§ 20-1. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Garbage means wastes resulting from the processing, handling, preparation, cooking or consumption of foods, including putrescible animal and vegetable matters.

    Premises means land and the buildings or other structures thereon.

    Refuse means all solid wastes of the community, including garbage, rubbish, tin cans, bottles, small dead animals and solid market wastes, but not including body wastes or the solid wastes resulting from industrial processes.

    Rubbish means the materials and articles such as tin cans, bottles, crockery, paper, rags, toys and other small items of glass, plastic or wood.
